Final Exam study guide + don't forget we will meet in the Library to take our final

If you can write 2-3 paragraph responses to the following questions or topics, you should do well on the final. You may bring one page of notes to use during the exam. Please remember that we will meet in the Library to take the final so that you can use proper desks.

1) California should be a model for other states and countries by setting aside half of its land for wildlife. Discuss.

 

2) Stephan Harding says that the most urgent thing people need to do in the 21^st century is to fall in love with the earth as if it were a beloved family member. Why does he say this? Is he correct?

 

3) Why do non-human beings need humans to speak for them? If you were to speak on behalf of a non-human being, which one would it be? What would you say? Why?

 

4) Some people aren’t aware of the environmental challenges our planet faces, nor of the extent to which they are dependent upon the functioning of the natural environment. What is the role of your generation with regard to those people? Is it your job to make them aware or to try to make them care? In what ways does your response reflect the Hallmarks?

 

5) Describe one skill or insight you have learned this semester that you feel you might be able to share with other college students during the rest of your time at NDNU. Why do you think this particular skill or insight stands out to you as sharable or important?
